
There was unrest in Ginde Saghev ward of Guma Local Government Area, Benue State, as irate students of Gyutiev Model School allegedly set ablaze the residence of the school’s principal, Mr. Isaac Yina.
According to reports, the violent protest erupted after it was discovered that NECO registration for about 178 students was not completed, despite each student reportedly paying ₦85,000 for the examination. The students, angered by the development, accused the principal of misappropriating the funds meant for their registration.
Eyewitnesses say the protest quickly escalated as the enraged students stormed the principal’s house and allegedly set it on fire, expressing their frustration and demanding justice.
As of the time of filing this report, there is no confirmed report of casualties, but the school premises remain tense. Authorities are yet to officially respond to the incident, and it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made.
