Ex-Nigerian Army General Reveals $431 Million Transfer From Arab Nations to Boko Haram
A former General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Nigerian Army’s Mechanised Division, Ali Keffi, has disclosed how Arab countries allegedly funneled massive funds to Boko Haram, including a $431 million transfer from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to a former leader of the terrorist group.
Jungle-Journalist.Com reports that Keffi made the revelation during an exclusive interview with Arise TV, where he explained that intelligence from the UAE exposed a massive financial pipeline to Boko Haram. According to him, about $431 million was wired to the terrorist group’s leader from the UAE and other Arab nations, a discovery that prompted a coordinated security operation.
How the Operation Worked
The operation was part of Operation Service Wide, an intelligence-driven security mission targeting terrorist leaders, financiers, and sponsors. It involved multiple agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and military police.
According to the retired general, the coordinated effort exposed terrorist financing networks and allowed security forces to dismantle critical channels sustaining Boko Haram’s operations.
Foreign Support in Counter-Terrorism
Keffi further acknowledged the vital role of international partners, particularly the United States and the United Kingdom, in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism. He explained that these countries not only supplied equipment and training but also offered high-value intelligence that boosted counter-insurgency operations.
The former army chief stressed that continued global cooperation remains key to crippling terrorist networks and preventing future attacks in Nigeria and the region.
