Former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development and President of Masters Group, Dr. Uche Ogah CON, stunned the people of Nkerefi in Enugu State when he announced full scholarships for eight indigent children in the town.
Dr. Ogah made the declaration on Sunday, September 28, during the Nkerefi Economic Summit 2025, a historic gathering hosted by one of the largest towns in Enugu State, comprising four autonomous communities.
According to him, the children’s education will be fully sponsored by the Uche Ogah Foundation, from primary school through to university level.
In his remarks, Dr. Ogah commended Hon. Monday Diamond Ani, popularly known as Odoziobodo, who chaired the Central Planning Committee of the summit. He praised Ani and his team for their ingenuity in organizing what he described as a “tremendous and historic event” that united an unprecedented crowd in love and progress.
The philanthropist further donated ₦5 million to support the Nkerefi Project, stressing that Nkerefi has become “more or less a second home” to him.
“This humanitarian gesture adds to the growing number of children and youths already under the sponsorship of the Uche Ogah Foundation,” he noted.
Responding on behalf of the people, Hon. Monday Diamond Ani expressed profound appreciation to Dr. Ogah for his compassion and commitment to the welfare of the community, describing the intervention as a blessing to Nkerefi and society at large.
