The Ojotule Michael Awards Kogi Leaders initiative is set to hold its maiden Stakeholders Interactive and Award Presentation on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Children Amusement Park in Lokoja. The event, organized by the Ojotule Michael Support Group, will recognize Kogi leaders who have excelled in government and private sectors. Their contributions have advanced development and progress across the state.
According to the convener, Prince Ojotule Michael, the awards honor leaders whose commitment and dedication have positively impacted governance and community development. The event also aims to foster dialogue on effective leadership and democratic sustainability.
Honourees Recognized for Excellence and Service
Among the honourees, the Ojotule Michael Awards Kogi Leaders initiative will formally recognize Kogi State Deputy Governor, Elder Salifu Joel Oyibo. He is being honored for his support of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration. He has also emphasized unity, inclusive governance, and the promotion of infrastructure and communal harmony across Kogi State.
Also to be honored is Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide, representing the Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopa-Muro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. Abejide is active in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and known for philanthropic work, including sponsoring education, providing interest-free loans for women, and supporting healthcare initiatives.
Rt. Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola Egwaba, the first female Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, will receive recognition for representing her Ibaji Constituency and promoting inclusive governance.
Additional honourees include Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Hajiya Habibat Oyiza Onumoko, Kogi State Accountant General, and Alhaji Dr. Umaru Oricha Shuaibu, Director General of Government House Administration. They are celebrated for professionalism, integrity, and dedication to public service.
Event Theme, Speakers, and Special Guests
Themed “Enhancing Leadership Effectiveness for Democratic Sustainability: Insights from Governor Ododo’s Governance Experience,” the event will feature a keynote lecture by Dr. Friday Achema. Hon. Samuel Juliana Funmilayo will serve as chairperson.
Distinguished guests include members of the House of Representatives and senior government officials. Their presence highlights collaboration between public leaders, stakeholders, and community members to advance state development.
