The Nzuko Arochukwu Worldwide, through the Central Planning Committee (CPC) of Aro Day 2025, hereby announces the celebration of Aro Day 2025, themed:
“Aro Renaissance: Honouring and Building on the Legacies of Our Heroes and Heroines, Past and Present, for a More United and Prosperous Aro Kingdom.”
The four-day Aro Day and Christmas Carnival, scheduled for December 24 to 27, 2025, will take place in Arochukwu Kingdom. The 2025 celebration holds special historical significance as it coincides with the centenary of Omu Aro, marking one hundred years legacy of cultural heritage with a unique insignia, dignity, leadership and moral authority in Aro society.
The event will also formally launch the STEM Sub-Committee of Aro Education Committee under the royal authority and blessing of His Eminence, Eze Dr. Eberechukwu Oji, Eze Aro of Arochukwu.
Programme of Events
The Aro Day 2025 celebration is designed as a blend of culture, sports, faith, education, youth engagement, and communal reflection.
Tuesday, December 24, 2025
Activities will commence with the final match of the Eze Kanu Oji Football Cup, organized by the Sports Development Committee.
Later in the evening, a Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons will hold at the Civic Centre Auditorium from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, featuring High Praise Entertainment.
Wednesday, December 25, 2025
Christmas Day will be marked by family-centred church services, communal meals, and home visits across Arochukwu Kingdom, in keeping with Christian and cultural traditions.
Thursday, December 26, 2025 – Aro Day Proper
The main Aro Day ceremonies will take place at the Civic Centre, Arochukwu. Activities will include:
Official Aro Day celebrations
Recognition and honouring of Aro heroes and heroines, posthumously.
*Formal launch and guided tour of the Aro Education STEM Exhibition
*Inauguration of the Second Dr. Alvan Ikoku Aro Education Development Colloquium Committee
*Presentation of the State of the Kingdom Address
*A special dinner for honourees at the Alpha Plus Hotel, Amuvi, Arochukwu.
The main ceremony will be chaired by Mazi Ike Okoronkwo, Ugwu Aro.
Friday, December 27, 2025
The final day will feature Royal Homage Visits by representatives of the nineteen Aro villages and Aro communities in the diaspora to His Eminence, the Eze Aro.
The Christmas activities will conclude with a Youth Dance Party and Variety Night at the Civic Centre Grounds on December 29th.
Aro Day Sports Activities The Nzuko Arochukwu Sports Development Committee has lined up a special 2025 Arochukwu Sports Events package to add colour to this year’s Aro Day celebrations, with activities spread across the yuletide period. The programme features the Eze Kanu Oji U-19 Football Competition, scheduled to run from 15 to 24 December in Arochukwu, as a platform to harness and showcase emerging football talents from the community.
Rounding off the sports calendar is a marathon competition tagged “Aro Walk for Light,” fixed for 27 December as a fitness and community-building event for indigenes and visitors. The events, which enjoy support from corporate partners such as Coca-Cola and MTN, are being promoted by the Arochukwu Sports Development Committee as part of wider efforts to use sports to unite the town and deepen youth engagement during the Aro Day season.
Major Highlights
A key focus of Aro Day 2025 is the celebration of excellence and legacy. Distinguished Aro sons and daughters will be honoured with plaques, certificates and garlands in recognition of their service and contributions to the kingdom.
As part of the education and innovation agenda, Prof. Joe Nwankwo will address Umu Aro, highlighting the objectives of the STEM initiative promoted by the Aro STEM Association (ASA), aimed at preparing Aro youth for global competitiveness in science, technology and innovation.
The event is expected to attract wide participation, including traditional leaders, professionals, youth groups, women organizations, and invited dignitaries, with live streaming arrangements in place to engage the global Aro diaspora.
