The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled an ambitious policy framework to expand its political stronghold in the South East region of Nigeria.

Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the APC, revealed the party’s intentions to capitalize on its recent triumph in Imo State as a launching platform for further advancements in the area.

Speaking from the party’s headquarters in Abuja during a meeting with Science and Technology Minister Uche Nnaji, Governor Ganduje emphasized the significance of the APC’s sweeping victory in all 27 Local Government Areas of Imo State during the gubernatorial election.

The success, he asserted, underscored the party’s increasing acceptance within the South East geopolitical zone.

Ganduje outlined the APC’s strategic roadmap, highlighting plans to leverage Governor Hope Uzodimma’s potential second-term bid to cement the party’s credibility and acceptance in the region.

“We won the election in all the 27 Local Government areas, we won with over half a million votes. Ebonyi and Imo are APC, but we are eyeing the three other states. We are going to use Imo State as a launch pad to win the zone to APC,” he stated.

The APC National Chairman revealed intentions to employ a multifaceted approach, including electronic registration of members from the ward, local government, and state levels.

He said the initiative will accurately identify party members and create pathways for new entrants to join the APC ranks.

In response to requests to exclude Enugu State indigenes, labelled as “APC in Abuja but PDP in Enugu,” from participating in the 2023 election efforts, Ganduje emphasized party unity.

He dismissed the proposal, underlining the importance of reconciliation within the party and establishing a reconciliation committee to mend internal divisions across all states.

Acknowledging existing challenges within certain states, Ganduje stressed the imperative of fostering unity within the party ranks to attract external support.
