APC’s Oshiomhole & Okpebholo wins Edo North, Central, Neda Imasuen of Labour Party defeats PDP in landslide victory

The senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Edo Central, Monday Okpebholo, has won Saturday’s National Assembly election.

 

It is the first time that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will lose the district since 1999.

 

A former National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has also defeated PDP’s incumbent Senator Francis Alimikhena in the Edo North Senatorial election.

Oshiomhole gets 107,110 votes while Alimekhena scored 55,344 votes.

 

Meanwhile, Barrister Neda Imasuen of Labour Party (LP) has emerged winner in the Edo South Senatorial District where Governor Godwin Obaseki of PDP hails from.

 

Imasuen defeated his closest rival, PDP, by polling 167,250 votes while PDP got 61,749.

 

APC came third with 57,933.

 

The Deputy House Majority Leader, Peter Akpatason, is returning to represent Akoko-Edo federal constituency for the fourth term on APC’s platform.

 

The Collation Officer, Prof. Robert Okuonghae, announced the results in Igarra, the headquarters of Akoko-Edo federal constituency.

 

Akpatason polled 14,982 votes to defeat his closest rival, Kabiru Adjoto of PDP with 9,293 votes.

 

APC also won the Etsako federal constituency with its candidate, Dekery Anamero, scoring 58,692 votes to defeat Andy Momodu of the PDP, with 25,132.

 

The returning officer, Prof. Adesina Ayinde announced the result while others are being collated.
