The Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom, His Eminence Eze Dr Eberechukwu Oji has emphasized that the identity of the people of Arochukwu is rooted in their distinctive cultural traits, language, food, the Omu Aro, as well as their songs and greetings.

Speaking at the Ikeji Aro Afor Osu Dinner party of Arochukwu Kingdom held at the Civic Centre Oror on the 21st of September 2024, he stated that there should never be an identity crisis for any Arochukwu indigene, as there are numerous cultural elements to guide them.

He called on all Arochukwu sons and daughters to imbibe the culture of identity and urged parents and guardians to speak the Arochukwu dialect to their children to help them become fluent in it to avoid the extinction of the language and culture.

While reminding the people of the importance of traditions and culture, Dr Eberechukwu Oji also launched an initiative called ‘Light Up Arochukwu’ to bring illumination to every part of the Kingdom as part of a social impact community development programme.

He stated that the idea is to illuminate the streets of Arochukwu, particularly in rural and erosion-prone areas. He also disclosed that the project will reduce negative vices in the community.

Dr. Eberechukwu Oji encouraged all the citizens of the Kingdom to contribute to the development of the Kingdom by supporting the implementation of the solar-panelled Light Up Arochukwu project.

Eze Eberechukwu Oji spoke about the significance of Afor Osu Day, emphasizing that this day is dedicated to showcasing the unique and exotic foods that the people of Arochukwu are known for. He also urged people to support this initiative by visiting their hometown, especially during the festive period.

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the Ikeji Aro dinner party, Mazi Emmanuel Kanu, appealed to Eze Eberechukwu Oji to continue with his leadership style to ensure that the world continues to hear about the Kingdom. He urged the people to keep supporting the recently crowned monarch.

He reminded the people that this was the first Ikeji Aro being organized by Eze Eberechukwu Oji. He urged the people to support the monarch’s reign on the throne in order to pave the way for infrastructural development in the community.

Gracing the event was the President General Nzuko Aro Worldwide Mazi Nnaadozie Udensi, Mazi Ikechukwu Okafor, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Prof. Okoro Ijoma, Mazi Francis Okoro, Dr Kanu Ohuche, PG Okennachi, Mazi Udo Chijioke, Dr Azubike Okoro, Mazi Zulu Ofoelue, Mazi Aliche, among others.
