The Minority Whip of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon Martin Chukwuma Ekwueme has launched an annual bursary scheme for pupils and students of Uzo Uwani.
In a chat with Jungle-Journalist.Com, Ekwueme who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts and Anti- corruption said beneficiaries will include primary school pupils as well as secondary school students across the 16 wards of the local government.
According to him, each ward will get 10 beneficiaries.
He said “This will be a continuous process. This will be yearly. Although I initiated the bursary award before I became elected into the House of Assembly, this is the first time I am doing it as a legislator.
“We will be giving it on a first come, first serve basis. We won’t discriminate against anybody, as every child who is an indigene is qualified to benefit”, the lawmaker said.
Also speaking on the initiative, DG, Ekwueme Campaign Organisation, Comrade Eberechukwu Anigbogu (ADA BIAFRA) commended the lawmaker’s efforts, stressing that this is a new era of good governance in Uzo Uwani.
“When the righteous is in power, the people rejoice. Hon Ekwueme is a square peg in a square hole, who is ready to take Uzo Uwani and it’s people to an enviable next level”.
