It’s Time to Establish Arochukwu Hall of Fame —Kanu Ohuche

The Secretary-General, Nzuko Arochukwu Worldwide, Mazi Kanu Ohuche, PhD, has proposed the establishment of an “Aro Okeigbo Hall of Fame” to honour individuals who have contributed to the development of the Arochukwu Kingdom.

This initiative aims to encourage the current generation to emulate the values and sacrifices of these contributors and to follow in their footsteps.

In his speech titled “Giving Back to Our Community: The Sustainable Pathway to Aro Renaissance,” presented at the commissioning and handover of the Women’s Hall built by the United Kingdom branch of Nzuko Aro Women’s Wing Worldwide on December 30, 2024, he suggested that the hall of fame should consist of three categories: platinum, gold, and silver.

Dr. Ohuche emphasized that the platinum category would feature the most distinguished heroes, such as Mazi Dr. Alvan Ikoku, while the gold category would recognize those who sacrificed their lives in active service to the Kingdom. The silver category would honour youths aged 18 to 35 who have distinguished themselves in industry and leadership.

He further proposed the creation of a secret blacklist to document individuals who have harmed the community but still seek recognition in the Hall of Fame. Dr. Ohuche warned that this blacklist would only be utilized when reviewing nominations for induction into the Aro Hall of Fame.

Encouraging the community to adopt the spirit of President John F. Kennedy’s famous dictum—asking not what Aro can do for them, but what they can do for Aro—Dr. Ohuche noted that a willingness to give back to the community opens doors for the givers. He commended the UK branch of Nzuko Aro Women’s Wing for the hall they constructed and for their ongoing projects.

In response, the President General of Nzuko Aro Women’s Wing, Mrs. Olaedo Chibuzor Onyekwere, expressed her gratitude to everyone who attended the event, particularly to Eze Aro Dr. Eberechukwu Oji and his entourage. She praised the UK branch, led by Dr Ely Umeham, for their significant contributions, stating that they listened to the community’s needs and acted accordingly.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Omu Aro Award to the United Kingdom branch of Nzuko Aro Women’s Wing by President General Mrs. Olaedo Chibuzor Onyekwere.
