The Deputy Chairman Communications Committee and member representing Ukanafun and Oruk Anam Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber, Hon. Unyime Idem has emerged 2022 ‘Best Member House of Representatives (MHR) of the Year’ in the forthcoming Leadership Excellence Awards.
Idem polled 265, 348 votes to defeat three other nominees; AbdulGaniyu Olododo 218, 634 votes; Usman Kumo 114, 678 votes; and Sha’aban Sharada 53, 968 votes.
The highly coveted award, endorsed by the African Union, African Film Institute, will be presented to him on 5th November, 2022 at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja in a glamorous ceremony organised by IgbereTV, Africa’s foremost community TV.
Hon. Idem, well known for his human capital development has sponsored over 35 Bills/ motions at the House of Representatives.
Some of the bills sponsored include, The Free internet access in public places Bill 2020; National Broadcasting Commission Act (amendment) Bill 2020; National Community Service Scheme Bill 2020; Entrepreneurship Education Bill 2020; Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurship Development Agency Act (amendment) Bill 2020, etc.
On October 18, 2022, Hon. Idem commenced commissioning of 20 life touching projects executed by his Office, spread across the federal constituency.
Hon. Idem has also sponsored over 40 life touching projects including 1000-Seater Capacity State of the Art Vocational Skills Centre, Ukanafun LGA, 1000-Seater Capacity State of the Art Vocational Skills Centre, Oruk Anam LGA, 1000-Seater Capacity State of the Art Agricultural Skills Acquisition Centre, Entrepreneurial Skills Centre, Ukanafun LGA, Digital E-Learning Centre with 40 Computer Sets and solar electricity at Community High School, Usung Atiat, Ukanafun LGA; Digital E-Learning Centre with 40 computer Sets and solar electricity at Afaha High School, Ikot Udombang, Ukanafun LGA; ICT Learning Centre with 40 Computer Sets and solar electricity at Community Secondary School,etc.
