Frank Nweke Jr, the Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, reiterated his promise to provide the visionary leadership needed to transform all spheres of governance and the economy.

He drilled in on this while engaging members of the Public Affairs Analysts, Enugu Chapter in a press parley on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.

Nweke emphasised the need for autonomy and accountability for the local governments as they are the closest level of government to the people and are responsible for providing their essential needs.

“The duties of the Local Governments are so fundamental and extensive in how it affects the wellbeing of residents in the State. They are responsible for key social infrastructure as primary healthcare, maintenance of roads, sanitation and more.

“Their responsibilities directly serve the people. What they require is leadership that has the discipline to allow them work and keep them accountable” he said.

On Local Government elections, Nweke noted the abuse of power that comes with the process being under the purview of the State Government and promised that this would be different under his administration.

“Our goal will be to ensure that the system is structured to allow competent people of integrity, good character and the capacity to contest and enjoy free and fair elections. You can hold me to this” He stated.

The Public Affairs Analysts, led by Dr Ambrose Igboke, engaged the APGA Governorship-hopeful with questions, noting that their visit was one in a series of engagement with gubernatorial candidates to ensure that they understood what the gubernatorial candidate had in store for the residents and be able to communicate clearly with people to make informed decisions.
