Senator Francis Alimikhena has said that the one year Remembrance Anniversary of his wife that took place at the weekend in Igiode- Agenebode in Etsako East local Government Council Edo State was to immortalise his late wife Chief (Mrs) Monica Alimikhena.

The former Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate who was speaking during the memorial ceremony said he missed everything about his wife. He described his wife,  Chief Monica Alimikhena, as a sister and best friend. Her death created a vacuum and unforgettable memory. One year after her death, I am missing everything about her. I do not have anything specific that I miss about her because I missed everything and that’s why we are here to immortalise her he said.

On their part, the former Chief of Staff to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, who was present, described the late Senator’s wife as a parody of a candle that burns itself to give light to others. She devoted her life to serving humanity, with open arms welcoming all visitors, regardless of religion or socio-economic status. She was a wife, a lovely sister, a wonderful friend to everyone, and, above all, a devoted Catholic.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Etsako East local Government Council Hon. (Princess) Benedicta Attoh  described Chief Monica Alimikhena as a mother of the downtrodden and advocate of the voiceless. She was known for her legendary generosity and Catholic conviviality. During her life time, She served as a model for the younger generation as well as a source of inspiration for mothers. She made herself of no reputation in order to give everyone a sense of belonging. To the poor she made herself poor because she doesn’t want anyone to be inferior before her. Her accommodating spirit is unusual. She said.

Mr Chairls Alimikhena described his late mother as a devout Catholic whose presence always uplifted the congregation. “My mother was passionate about assisting the less fortunate, and she will be sorely missed by those for whom she was constantly meeting their needs. “She was a good listener and an excellent mother,” he said.

The Member representing Etsako East in the State House of Assembly Hon. Kingsley Ugabi who was emotional described the Senator’s wife as his mother. “She is everything a mother should be to her children and we will forever remember her.”

Mr. Benjamin Atu Media Aide to the late Senator’s wife and former Personal to Senator Francis Alimikhena said She excelled in the area of philanthropy with a jumbo heart and robust giving spirit. Everything she eats she shares it. Inspite of her status she spend time to coach others. I called her my super editor because she has a keen eye for spotting flaws in everything she reads. She frown against unguarded utterances because her words are always  seasoned with salt. She has unwavering faith in God and does not doubt her beliefs.

Earlier in his homely the Rev Father at the Holy family Catholic Church igiode admonished the family members and those present to live a life worthy of emulation, saying that humans will only be remembered by what they have done. He encourages everyone to leave a life moderated by God’s fear, like Lady Monica Alimikhena, with a bouyant spirit and advocate for peaceful resolution of all Issues for the general good.

Dignitaries from across the country were all present, the late media guru Raymond Aleogho DOKPESI was represented by his son, Director General of the PDP Campaign Council Hon. Moses Agbukor, Ambassador Peter Anegbe, among other top functionaries.
