NDLEA Seize 1515 Kilograms Of Illicit Drugs In Enugu 

Intensify fight on drug hawkers in communities

The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Enugu command under Aniete Bassey Idim and his team has over the past year (January to December 2022)ripped Enugu State from drug lords and business men who have no more place to hide as the agency has continued to intensify it’s efforts to drug dealing in the bud.

 

In a Press Briefing held at the state command headquarters with journalists, our correspondent who was at the event reports that drugs over 1,515.301 kilograms was siezed by the men and operatives of the command, which the commander described as one of the highest seizures since he took over at the command by his the team which came with a thorough and well taken operations at around 2am midnight that the breakthrough was recorded by his men at different locations in the state.

 

Commander Aniete therefore described the operation as a collaborations by the public who took it upon themselves to see that they need a better society to train their wards rather than having a messed up environment where drugs, kidnapping and terror is being wielded that the citizens won’t have to sleep with thier two ayes closed.

He said the Command will continue and not rest until they rid Enugu state clean from drugs.

 

He equally appreciated the leadership of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi administration that has stood by the agency and has given them immense support to carry out thier operations successfully with the provision of vehicles and other logistics towards achieving a great success in the state.

 

Below is the text of brief and the detailed number of drugs siezed and suspects arrested by the agency:

In keeping with the vision of NDLEA to be proactive and a leading Drug Law Enforcement Agency on the African Continent and one of the best in the world through effective and efficient service to Nigerians by cutting off supply of Illicit Drugs, Reducing the Demand for Illicit Drugs and other Substance of Abuse, tracing and recovering Drug related proceeds, contributing to the creation and maintenance of an enviable image for Nigeria throughout the world

 

NDLEA have been able to push the twin problem of Drug Trafficking to the public dormain in a manner that virtually every citizen, Non Government Organization, Civil Society and Government Agency are now alive to these problems Gentlemen and Ladies in the period under review the (Agency) NDLEA Enugu State Command recorded success in the following areas:

 

1. ARREST:

NO OF SUSPECTS: 134 SUSPECTS. MALES–129

FEMALES–5

 

2. DRUG SEIZURES:

 

CANNABIS SATIVA—1,449.721KILOGRAMS

METHAMPHETAMINE–1.191KILOGRAMS

TRAMADOL 3.129KILOGRAMS

EXOL 5—9.755KILOGRAMS

DIAZEPAM–50.25KILOGRAMS COCAINE—58.92GRAMS

RHYMOL—-46.09GRAMS

PETHIDINE–700GRAMS

PENTAZOCAINE-450GRAMS.

 

TOTAL DRUG EXHIBIT SEIZED:1,515.301KILOGRAMS.

 

3. PROSECUTION/CONVICTIONS OBTAINED:

 

TOTAL NO OF CONVICTION—87

MALES—83

FEMALES—4

PENDING CASES—54

CHARGES—90

 

4. DRUG DEMAND AND REDUCTION: summary of activities in the unit from January to December, 2022 are as follows:

We will continue to raise a standard against the influx of Illicit Drugs.

 

The increased quantity of seized Drugs reinforces the efficacy of our Drug suppression strategies. Let me sincerely appreciate The Military, Police and all Law Enforcement Agencies in the State for their cooperation/synergy during the period in view.
