…score administration high in infrastructure, agriculture, health, education

The people of Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State have commended their council boss, Hon Okechukwu Sydney Edeh, for his outstanding performance within his first 100 days in office of his second term.

According to residents, the council chairman has made significant strides in reshaping the local economy, bringing about positive changes to the different communities that constitute the council area.

Okechukwu, who also doubles as Chairman, Association of Local of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu State Chapter, was scored high in the areas of infrastructure, agriculture, health, education and human capital development by a cross section of people in various communities in the area.

They praised the ALGON Chairman for his proactive approach to addressing the area’s economic challenges, citing initiatives aimed at boosting trade, commerce, and infrastructural development.

Mr Brown Ngene, a businessman in Amagunze, stressed that the council chairman was consolidating on the good record of his first term.

“You can see changes in the local government. He is keying into the initiatives of the state government and that is allowing him to consolidate on the excellent record of his first tenure,” he added.

At Nara, some of the traders who spoke to newsmen praised the chairman for his intervention in infrastructure and other development projects.

“We are happy with his leadership. We have no regret supporting him because the local government is now wearing some new looks. He is doing well,” Mrs Amaka Nwonodo, who owns a shop close to Nara market said.

A civil engineer, Chief Benson Nnamani, said efforts to connect different communities in the council area were already yielding positive impacts as a result of the dedication of the chairman.

He added: “Well, I will rate him very high. He has done well and his leadership is the true definition of government at the grassroots. People, especially the youths, are being empowered and that’s what we all need.”

A community health extension worker at Ubahu, Eucharia Ifenna, noted that the efforts of the chairman have not only improved the standard of living but have also created new opportunities for entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Hon Okechukwu’s commitment to transparency and accountability has also been lauded by residents, who appreciate the regular updates on projects and initiatives.

“This openness in his leadership has fostered trust and cooperation between the council and the community, enabling all of us to work together towards a common goal, which is making Nkanu East better for all of us,” Orji Anthony, a rice farmer at Ugbakwa noted.

However, the chairman has also been enjoined to fast track the completion of some of the key infrastructures such as roads and bridges undertaken his government, saying they would transform the council into an urban center.
