The remains of veteran teacher and educator, Mr Alfred Nwiya will be laid to rest in his country home, Onunkwo, Umuogbii village, in Nkerefi community, Enugu State.
According to an obituary statement signed by his son, Mr Chika Spiff Nwiya, Pa Nwiya, popularly known as Afro Hit was 76 years old as at the time of his demise, on September 27, 2023.
The statement further read, “with pain in our hearts, but with total submission to the will of God, we the family of Onyiba Nwiya Ekwe Ogbuonu Nweze of Umuogbii Nkerefi announce the passing unto glory of our beloved husband, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and great grandfather which occurred on 27th September, 2023.
The announcement further revealed that the vigil service would be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2023 in Onunkwo Umuogbii Nkerefi, while the body would be moved from Agbani General Hospital back home.
Further, lying in state would be held at 10 am same day, while the funeral service would be anchored by House of Prayer for All Nations Church from 10.30 am same day.
Interment would also take place at 1pm, same day at his country home.
