Miss Glory Okolie
The case of the detained Glory Okolie, which came up today in an Abuja High Court was again adjourned till November 22, 2021.
Recall that Glory Okolie is the young lady who was accussed of terorism and has been held indefinitely in police custody for more than 160 days now. She is being held by the IGP IRT Unit of Nigerian Police Force, after being accused of being a relationship with a member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr Benjamin E, aka Onye Army and was thereafter charged of terrorism at Federal High Court Abuja, presided over by Justice Taiwo Taiwo.
Before now, Miss Okolie was granted bail by the FCT High Court, presided over by Justice Chinedu Origi and the bail condition was flouted by the office of IGP IRT Unit, AGF and IGP.
Amnesty International – associated lawyer, Deji Ajare and One Love Foundation human rights lawyer, Barrister Ihensekhien Samuel Jnr and and Barrister F John Esq put up legal appearance today being the 18th November 2021, at the Federal High Court for the hearing of her bail application.
Samuel Ihensekhien Jnr once more moved the bail application for freeing Miss Okolie, and reminded the court of an earlier FCT High Court bail granted to Okolie, which the AGF allegedly flouted and hence the AGF being the prosecution should be shut down from opposing this bail application.
He urged the court to defer the AGF counter application, since they are in contempt of previous orders of the FCT High Court which is almost of the same jurisdiction with Federal High Court.
The presiding judge noted all this circumstances and submissions, and adjourned the case to to 22nd November 2021 for ruling.
Ihensekhien Samuel Jnr, in his reaction thanked every civil society organization, and most especially Amnesty International and One Love Foundation for all advocacy and every step taken so far in this case.
According to him, he is sure the Federal High Court will grant Justice to the Miss Okolie bail.
On his part, Chief Patrick Eholor who is the president of One Love Foundation expressed gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the case and said he hoped that Miss Okolie will be a free lady very soon.
