Long before globalization became a buzzword, Rommy was already living it. At 21, while his peers were still navigating local trade, he boarded a plane to Taiwan — alone, unguarded, and unafraid.

It was 1976, and the world was still divided by Cold War lines. But Rommy saw only opportunity. In the bustling markets of Taipei, he sourced motorcycle spare parts, negotiated with manufacturers, and shipped them home to Nnewi. That single act of daring cracked open the gates of international commerce for Igbo entrepreneurs.

He didn’t just bring back goods — he brought back a blueprint: supply chains, reinvestment, industrial growth. Today, Nnewi’s status as a commercial powerhouse traces much of its foundation to Rommy’s Taiwan trail.

🏭 Building Industries

Never content with trade alone, Rommy set out to build.

He founded Ranent and Rojenny Industries, transforming profits into factories. Fiberglass, foam, bamboo, toothpicks — he manufactured what others imported.

In Anaku, Ayamelum, he acquired vast farmland, inviting partners into commercial agriculture. His vision was clear: Igbo self-reliance must rest on production, not consumption.

⚽ Culture, Sports, and National Pride

Rommy’s most audacious creation was not industrial, but cultural.

In Oba, Anambra State, he built Rojenny Stadium and Tourist Village — Nigeria’s first private stadium. It was more than sports infrastructure; it was a sanctuary of pride. With natural turf, floodlights, athletic tracks, and lodgings, it became home to football clubs, festivals, and national dreams.

In the early 1990s, the Golden Eaglets trained there. Rommy fed them, housed them, and believed in them. In 1993, they lifted the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Japan. Nigeria rejoiced — but behind the scenes, Rommy’s quiet patronage had laid the foundation.

🎓 Investing in Education

When Monsignor Prof. John Bosco Akam dreamed of founding Tansian University, doors slammed shut. No land, no funding.

Rommy stepped in. He donated his Ranent factory site in Oba — a multimillion-naira sacrifice — and injected ₦2 billion. By 2007, the university was licensed, with Rommy as majority equity holder.

But after Akam’s death, a bitter legal battle erupted. A priest-lawyer, Rev. Fr. Obiora, attempted to hijack the university. Rommy fought back in court — winning a consent judgment and later an Appeal Court victory in 2024.

His words resounded:

“Hijacking a university built on sacrifice is not just theft — it is betrayal. I will not let Akam’s dream be corrupted.”

🔮 Spiritual and Cultural Leadership

As Ogilisi Igbo, Rommy’s role transcended commerce and politics. He warned that leaving Biafran war victims unburied brought misfortune. Under Governor Willie Obiano, he led campaigns to bury thousands of corpses across Igboland — a cultural and spiritual healing long overdue.

Following the election of Pope Leo, Chief Ezeonwuka praised the College of Cardinals for choosing an American pontiff:

“It is a progressive and unifying decision. The Church must reflect the world it serves.” — Ogilisi Igbo

His voice reflects a belief in spiritual evolution and global inclusivity.

🗳️ Political Prophecies and Advocacy

A founding elder of APGA, Rommy guided Peter Obi, collaborated with Obiano, and prophetically endorsed Charles Soludo. His foresight earned him the nickname “Nostradamus of Igbo Land.”

“Soludo is not just a governor. He is a movement. Let him finish what he started,” he declared.

In 2024, he joined South East governors in demanding Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release:

“Every voice that needed to speak has spoken — governors, elders, clergy. Any authority still holding Kanu does not mean well for Ndi Igbo.”

Even beyond politics, his moral compass never wavered. In 2023, addressing Nigerian youth, he cautioned:

“The difficulties we are witnessing today in Nigeria have to do with the cycle of life… Many great races of old have died, while many new ones have risen — but in all these, taking to crime is not justifiable.”
