Setting the Record Straight on “Inside the Betrayal That Shaped Enugu APC Politics”
I wish to sincerely apologize to my readers and to High Princess Ada Ogbu (Ada Eze Odenigbo of Nara Unataeze Ancient Kingdom) over my earlier publication titled “Inside the Betrayal That Shaped Enugu APC Politics (The Woman Who Shook Enugu APC)”, which circulated widely across various platforms.
Upon further investigation and proper fact-checking, I have come to realize that much of the information contained in that initial report was unverified, inaccurate, and misleading. I take full responsibility for these errors and hereby retract that publication in its entirety, in the interest of truth, fairness, and responsible journalism.
Corrections and Verified Facts
1. On the APC Leadership and Congress Events in Enugu
Contrary to my earlier narrative, High Princess Ada Ogbu was not involved in any form of political manipulation or betrayal within the All Progressives Congress (APC). Verified reports now show that major stakeholders (not all) of Enugu APC collectively agreed on the emergence of Barr. Ugochukwu Agballa as the state chairman of the party, with Senator Ken Nnamani, the leader of the party in the state, recommending Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu as the chairman of the Congress Committee as the leader of South East.
On the matter of Ken Nnamani and Emma Eneukwu, I have confirmed that the Unity List used for the confirmation of national positions at the APC 2022 National Convention was signed and endorsed by the 22 APC governors, who chose Chief Emma Enukwu against Sen. Ken Nnamani. High Princess Ada Ogbu had no hand in it, as she was not a governor.
It is also now confirmed that the congress accreditation took place at the Dome Event Centre, while the congress itself took place at Destiny Event Centre, an arrangement made by the Congress Committee — of which High Princess Ada Ogbu was not a member.
In light of these verified facts, there was no justification whatsoever to blame or implicate High Princess Ada Ogbu in any internal conflict or betrayal. She was never part of any factional manipulation, but rather remained a committed founding member and stabilizing figure within the party.
2. Clarification on Princess Ada Ogbu’s Political and Family Background
High Princess Ada Ogbu is the daughter of His Royal Highness, Igwe Nathaniel Ogbu, Eze Odenigbo I of Nara Unataeze Ancient Kingdom. Her father, Eze Odenigbo, was a leading political figure and one of the foremost champions of the agitation for the creation of Wawa State — which later evolved into the present-day Enugu and Ebonyi States.
He is widely recognized as a political father figure in Enugu State, with His Excellency, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the current Governor of Enugu State, regarded as one of his political sons.
Therefore, the claim that a group of bishops took High Princess Ada Ogbu to the Governor is entirely false and unfounded. The Governor, His Excellency Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, is in fact a brother figure to High Princess Ada Ogbu — bound by both political and familial respect, not an intermediary introduction as previously alleged.
3. Clarification on the APC South East Zonal Office
I also wish to correct my earlier assertion that the APC South East Zonal Office on Nza Street was owned by the late father of High Princess Ada Ogbu. After due verification, it has been confirmed that the property does not belong to her family. The previous claim was based on unverified and incorrect information, which I now fully retract.
4. On the Peter Obi Campaign Allegation
Another major inaccuracy in my earlier report was the claim that High Princess Ada Ogbu campaigned for Mr. Peter Obi during the 2023 general elections. Fact-checks have revealed that she never personally campaigned for Peter Obi.
The posters linking her to Peter Obi were actually produced by a civil society group — the Nigeria Youth Advocacy for Good Governance Initiative (NYAGGI), led by Comrade Alabi Akeem Abiodun.
The organization had independently selected and endorsed a few notable candidates from various parties — including High Princess Ada Ogbu (APC), Hon. Nonso Nnamani (APGA), Hon. Nnolim Nnaji (PDP), and Mr. Peter Obi (LP) — as credible examples of quality leadership. The posters were part of their nonpartisan advocacy for issue-based elections and were not authorized, sponsored, or endorsed by High Princess Ada Ogbu in any form.
Final Note
High Princess Ada Ogbu remains a respected leader, philanthropist, and technocrat — a woman of integrity who has devoted herself to the growth and unity of the APC in Enugu State and across the South East. She is known for her political maturity, tenacity, bridge-building nature, and her deep commitment to party values and community development.
The person of High Princess Ada Ogbu, I have found, is an accomplished personality and businesswoman in her own right. She owns and runs successful businesses worldwide. In fact, the then Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar once referred to her father, the great Eze Odenigbo I, as “Papa Collectibles” during a courtesy call because High Princess Ada Ogbu founded the famous Collectibles Clothing Brand in her 20s, and later started a thriving property development company from Banana Island, Lagos, in her 30s.
Having taken my time to find the facts, I wish to state that I deeply regret any distress or reputational harm my earlier publication may have caused High Princess Ada Ogbu, her family, and her numerous supporters.
I therefore urge all media platforms and individuals who shared the previous publication to note this correction, retraction, and clarification.
As journalists and commentators, our duty is to truth and accountability. I have learned valuable lessons from this experience and reaffirm my commitment to ethical, fact-based journalism going forward.
