Prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and former senatorial candidate for Enugu East, Princess Adaku Ogbu Aguocha, has again called on all members of the APC in Enugu State to sheathe their swords and embrace unity and peace in the interest of the party and the people. Ogbu-Aguocha calls for unity is a fallout of recent cracks in the party.
The former Enugu East senatorial candidate said Governor Peter Mbah’s entry into the APC marks a major milestone in connecting Enugu State to the political centre.
Princess Ogbu Aguocha, a foundation member of the APC since its formation in 2013, described Mbah’s defection as the fulfillment of a decade-long aspiration of Progressives in Enugu to link the state to the national grid of development.
“The entrance of Dr. Peter Mbah into the All Progressives Congress is a milestone moment. When we joined forces in 2013 to align with the APC, one of our major goals was to connect Enugu to the Centre. Today, that dream has come true,” she said.
“Whatever benefits other states in the Federation enjoy, Enugu State is now wholly qualified to enjoy as well, having journeyed with this party from inception.”
Ogbu Aguocha Recalls APC’s Historic Formation
The Enugu-born politician recalled how the APC was formed through a merger of opposition parties — the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), and a faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) — to create a viable national platform.
“We came together as strange bedfellows — from ACN, CPC, ANPP, DPP, and APGA — to forge a new path for Nigeria. It was not an easy journey, but today those strange bedfellows have metamorphosed into brothers, sisters, comrades, and statesmen whose only goal is the overall good of Nigeria and its people,” she reflected.

Ogbu-Aguocha Calls Unity, Peace, Support for Caretaker Committee
Princess Ogbu Aguocha urged all members of the Enugu APC to put aside personal interests and support the party’s Caretaker Committee led by Dr. Ben Nwoye, as constituted by the National Working Committee (NWC) under the leadership of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.
“Factions are unhelpful; unity is power,” she stated. “I therefore urge all members, new and old, to support the Caretaker Committee until the congresses are concluded.”
She also thanked party members and the people of Enugu State for the massive turnout during Governor Mbah’s reception into the APC, describing it as a demonstration of solidarity and renewed strength.
“I sincerely thank our members and supporters who came out in their numbers to welcome our Governor into the APC fold. Your solidarity demonstrates that we are indeed one family, committed to building a stronger and more prosperous Enugu State,” she added.
