A socio-political movement, New Enugu Group, has declared full support for Governor Peter Mbah on his transition to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The group described the move as bold and strategic, saying it would link Enugu State to national development.

Speaking at Michael Okpara Square, Enugu, on Tuesday, the group’s convener, Barr. Henry Okeke, commended the governor for his “visionary and courageous decision.” The event featured President Bola Tinubu, members of the APC National Working Committee, and several party leaders.

Okeke stated that Mbah’s decision marks a new political dawn in Enugu. “This transition connects our dear state to the progressive government at the centre,” he said. “We align fully with His Excellency in this new era.”

According to Okeke, the group’s members across all 260 wards will mobilize for the governor under the APC. Moreover, he said the governor’s alignment with the federal government would attract more investments and federal presence.

“His achievements in just two years are unprecedented,” Okeke said. “With this alignment, Enugu will witness more jobs, opportunities, and development.”

Governor Mbah, who officially announced Enugu State’s move from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, said the decision followed public demand. He noted that citizens had urged him to connect the state to the national grid of governance for more collaboration and growth.

The event, attended by several APC governors, stakeholders, and former PDP members, was hailed as a watershed in Enugu’s political history.

According to The Nation Newspaper, Mbah’s recent policies have drawn national attention for their focus on innovation and transparency.
