Abia state governorship candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Prof Gregory Ibe has vowed to surpass the achievements of Dr Michael Okpara, Premier of Eastern Nigeria and Chief Sam Mbakwe, Governor of old Imo state, if elected governor in 2023.

Prof Ibe made this assertion while delivering a new year message to the people of Abia state. While thanking God for his unmerited favour and unfailing faithfulness to his people in Abia, he paid glowing tribute to Abians for their doggedness and unparalleled spirit of industry, which according to him enabled them “creatively and innovatively survive the hardest and harshest seasons of the life span of God’s Own State”.

Welcoming Abians to 2023, he stated that the state stands on the threshold of history as elections draw near, and enjoined the Abia electorate to make a clear distinction from their unpalatable past experience by massively voting for APGA in the forthcoming general elections.

According to Prof Ibe, ” It is time to make a clear distinction from the unpalatable past experience of woes signposted by non payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities and restore the past glory of our region, which under the great Dr Michael Okpara was renowned as the fastest growing economy in Nigeria. A feat that was replicated by De Sam Mbakwe in the old state through the establishment of many cottage industries. I assure you that if by the grace of God and your mandate I am elected governor on 11 March this year I will surpass the achievements of both Dr M. I Okpara and De Sam Mbakwe by leveraging my extensive global contacts to attract direct foreign investments to our state and thereby, create industrial parks in strategic locations, empower Abia youths with competitive skills, maximize our God given resources for the benefit of the people and thereby reinstate Abia as God’s Own State and Aba as the Japan of Africa. God endowed me with all it takes to produce something remarkable from absolutely nothing and anyone in doubt should checkout my records with Skill G Ltd and Gregory University Uturu. I am rearing to replicate the same triumphing feat in our Abia state”.

In conclusion, he enjoined Abians to prayerfully welcome the new year with hope and expectation in anticipation of the emergence of a brand new Abia that will manifest with limitless possibilities once they elect him into the office of governor.
