Ibe, Orji

The recent declaration by former Governor of Abia State, Senator Theodore Orji, endorsing Abia North as the appropriate senatorial zone to produce the next Governor of Abia state in 2023 has continued to receive favorable reactions from many quarters.

In his reaction, Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu, Prof Gregory Ibe, commended the former Governor for his boldness and consistency in upholding the tenets of justice, equity and fairness, recalling that “this same courageous act of patriotism by Senator Orji was the stabilizing rod that helped sustain our nascent Abia democracy before the 2015 general elections”.

According to Prof Ibe,” I want to personally commend the former Governor, Senator T.A Orji, for once again rising to defend democracy by upholding the tenets of justice, equity and fairness as strongly recommended by our revered Abia founding fathers in the Abia Charter of Equity document. It is pertinent to point out that this same courageous act of patriotism by Senator Orji was the stabilizing rod that helped sustain our nascent Abia democracy before the 2015 general elections. In deed this is refreshing news especially since this is coming at the heels of Governor Ikpeazu’s confirmation that our party is embarking on consultation in order to arrive at an acceptable zoning method. I am sure that Ochendo’s endorsement will be an invaluable guide to the ongoing process”.

Pledging the readiness of Abia North to deliver credible leadership while sustaining and increasing to enviable heights the pace and tempo of development in the state, Prof Ibe enjoined other stakeholders to join in facilitating the reign of political peace in the state by supporting the position canvassed by the former Governor.

Also in their separate reactions, Hon Emeka Okafor and Dr Reginald Egenti both of Abia Crusaders Foundation applauded Senator Orji for his love, passion and dedication to the steady progress and development of the state, enjoining him not to relent.

It will be recalled that the former Governor and Senator representing Abia Central in the 9th Senate, Chief T.A. Orji was reported to have publicly declared  support for rotation of the governorship position of the state to Abia North during a meeting of PDP stakeholders that held recently in his family house.
