The recent publication by Mazi Agodi Kanu titled “OBSEQUIES: BURIAL OF AROCHUKWU KINGDOM BY AROCHUKWU AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY PROMOTERS” is rife with brazen sacrilege, defiance of constituted authority, inaccuracies and blatant misinformation designed to confuse and mislead the public.
Against such an obviously sponsored propaganda of the vilest depravity, it is imperative to set the record straight and reaffirm the truth about the rightful kingship and status of the Arochukwu Kingdom.
That piece couched with uncouth, irreverent language, typical of someone without manners, the trashy rant betrays desperation. It portrays a skewed narrative that falsely glorifies an illegitimate claim to the Eze Aro throne by Prince Godwin Idei Kanu. It conveniently ignores the legitimate and traditional processes that have firmly established His Eminence, Eze Eberechukwu Oji, as the authentic Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom. This recognition is not merely the result of administrative affirmation by the Abia State government but is rooted in the deep sanctity of the customs and traditions that have governed Arochukwu for centuries. The selection process religiously followed the last conclave of 1988.
The Abia State government’s recognition of Eze Eberechukwu Oji as the Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom is backed by the verdict of the collective decision of the traditional Okennachi Kindred, Aro traditional institution, confirmed by the Judicial Panel of Inquiry, Government White Paper, and popular acclamation by the people. These authoritative decisions have nullified any contrary claims, including those of Prince Godwin Kanu Idei, whose defiance is both legally baseless and disrespectful to Arochukwu traditions.
Contrary to the alarmist tone of Agodi Kanu’s piece, the Arochukwu Kingdom is not in decline nor is it being “buried.” The Kingdom remains robust and its monarchy is more unified than ever under Eze Eberechukwu Oji. The insinuation that recognising autonomous communities within Arochukwu equates to the dissolution of the Kingdom is a fallacy. Autonomous communities are a practical administrative division within Abia State and do not undermine the overarching unity and historical significance of the Arochukwu Kingdom which is universal and covers all Aro communities at home and in the Diaspora. For the avoidance of doubt, Eze Eberechukwu Oji is the Eze Aro of the Arochukwu Kingdom worldwide and not just the Arochukwu homeland Community in Abia State.
The notion that the Arochukwu Kingdom will cease to exist due to the administrative delineation as an Autonomous Community is an unfounded fear-mongering tactic. History has shown that kingdoms and traditional institutions evolve but remain resilient and enduring. The Arochukwu Kingdom’s legacy and cultural heritage continue to thrive, guided by legitimate and recognised royalty.
Talking about the court ruling alluded to by Agodi Kanu to bolster his wild claims, does it even hold water and help the case of Prince Godwin Kanu Idei? The answer is No! Let Umu Aro be rightly informed that at the time Prince Godwin Kanu Idei was arrested and charged for the criminal case of personation, the Abia State Government had not recognized anybody as Eze Aro. That was precisely why he was accused of personation. It might also interest anyone to note that the Abia State government has since recognized Eze Eberechukwu Oji as the Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom and presented him with the staff of office, the court ruling remains a mere academic exercise and of no legal effect or importance to the throne of Eze Aro, as it has been overtaken by events.
Also, concerning the case of Mazi Kanu Nwa Kanu, the deposed Eze Ibom Isii, who was asked to appear before the Panel of Inquiry set up by the Abia State Government, the panel had concluded its sitting and submitted a report that was accepted by the State Government, following which a White Paper was issued and published. Hence the opportunity to appear before the panel as directed had been foreclosed.
At this point, all well-meaning Umu Aro must see through the divisive tactics employed by detractors like Agodi Kanu and his desperate sponsors. The strength of Arochukwu lies in its unity and collective respect for legitimate traditional authority. Attempts to create parallel structures or sow discord serve only to weaken the community and betray the values we hold dear. This should not be encouraged.
Eze Eberechukwu Oji has been rightfully recognised and crowned, following all due processes. The Coronation celebration scheduled for July 25-27, which is dreaded by Agodi Kanu and his jittery camp, will still be held. It will come and go, and Arochukwu Kingdom will remain one intact, indivisible kingdom under His Eminence, Eze Eberechukwu Oji. Any attempt to challenge this without recourse to legal and traditional protocols is not only despicable but will also be deemed abominable and be met with serious consequences. The Arochukwu community worldwide is urged to support the rightful Eze and reject any misleading propaganda.
In the end, the vitriolic verbiage is a calculated attempt to distort facts and create unnecessary tension within the Arochukwu Kingdom. The Kingdom and Umu Aro must remain vigilant, uphold the truth, and continue to support the legitimate kingship of Eze Eberechukwu Oji, ensuring that the rich heritage and unity of Arochukwu continue to stand the test of time.
Eze Eberechukwu Oji’s ascension to the Aro throne is divine and has popular acclamation.
Signed
Prince Kanu Okoro Kanu Oji
Grand Prince of Arochukwu kingdom
