Apara Unity Forum Condemns Attack on Ohanaeze President Mbata, Backs Fubara and Tinubu for 2027

The Apara Unity Forum held an emergency general meeting on January 10, 2026.
The meeting took place in Rumuigbo Town, Obio/Akpor LGA, Rivers State.

Members reviewed recent political developments in Rivers State.
They also assessed events in Obio/Akpor LGA and Apara Kingdom.

AUF strongly condemned a press statement issued on January 9, 2026.
The statement was credited to Chief Alex Wele.
He spoke on behalf of the Apara Committee of Friends.

AUF described the group as politically irrelevant and crisis-driven.
It accused the group of manipulation and deliberate provocation.

The forum rejected allegations against Distinguished Senator John Azuta Mbata.
The claims included accusations of land grabbing.
AUF described them as malicious and misleading.

Members noted Mbata’s public record.
They cited his experience as a former senator.
They highlighted his role as Ohanaeze Ndigbo President General.
They referenced his work as a construction expert and philanthropist.

AUF urged the public to disregard the allegations.
It said the claims were fueled by jealousy and frustration.

The group encouraged Senator Mbata to continue supporting the Rivers Governor.
AUF also congratulated the governor on joining the APC.

AUF cautioned Rt. Hon. Chike Martin Amaewhule.
It described the impeachment notice as unprovoked.
The forum advised the House of Assembly to exercise restraint.

Members warned against actions that could destabilize the state.
They called for calm political engagement.

AUF endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term.
It also endorsed Governor Siminalayi Fubara for re-election.
The forum urged both leaders to contest in 2027.

The statement was signed by Eze Sir Billy Owhonda.
He is the President General of Apara Unity Forum.
