The Labour Party candidate for Enugu East Senatorial District, Barrister Oyibo Chukwu has been reportedly killed.
Oyibo, a lawyer was said to have been attacked while returning from a campaign trip in the Agbani area, and was attacked around Amechi Awkunanaw area in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State on Wednesday.
He was said to have been burnt inside his vehicle, and three persons were suspected to be with him in the vehicle but it was not yet known how many of the occupants were killed.
A member of the campaign train told our reporter on the phone “Our Candidate is dead! He was killed inside his campaign vehicle; a Sienna bus. We finished Campaign in parts of Nkanu West and he was heading home before the assailants attacked him and killed him.”
Information about the attack is still very sketchy but a top member of the party confirmed it but said he should not be quoted until the family speaks.
Jungle-Journalist.Com learnt that two other attacks on politicians also took place at the same axis, including one on the APC governorship candidate in the state, Uche Nnaji.
Similarly, the campaign vehicle of the Enugu North and South Federal Constituency of the PDP was attacked along the same road.
The driver of the vehicle was attacked and burnt to death.
Details of the incidents were scanty by press time.
