Gloria Okolie has been finally released from Kuje prisons.
Gloria Okolie is the 21-year-old young woman arrested and enslaved by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in Imo State since June 2021.
Despite the public outcries and clamour for her release, the police charged Okolie to the court for terrorism in a case, FHC/ABJ/CR/297/2021, with Federal Republic of Nigeria as the complainant and Emeoyiri Uzoma Benjamin and Okolie Glory as the defendants.
One Love Foundation, in association with 30 other civil rights groups have been on her case since last year, battling to ensure she regains freedom.
Jungle Journalist Media Limited has also played a major role in informing the public about her ordeals.
She was released earlier today, according to Samuel Ihensekhien Jnr, counsel to One Love Foundation.
In a short message to Jungle Journalist Media Limited, he wrote “On behalf of One Love Foundation and 30 CSOs, we wish to inform everyone that Glory Okolie has been released from the Suleja Prison”.
More details later.
