President Muhammadu Buhari met with the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, on Wednesday at the State House in Abuja.
Buhari met with the CBN Governor shortly after this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting, however, Emefiele refused to speak with journalists after the meeting.
Recall that the Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara state government filed a motion ex parte to stop the CBN from enforcing its naira redesign policy.
On Wednesday, a seven-person panel of the Supreme Court led by Justice John Okoro unanimously granted an interim injunction, extending the use of the old naira notes and cancelling the Central Bank of Nigeria deadline of 10 February 2023 for the phasing out of the old 200, 500, and 1000 naira notes.
