The Code of Conduct Bureau has given the September 30 deadline for political appointees in Enugu State to submit their asset declaration forms or face prosecution.
The CCB Director in the state, Mrs Lucy Ijetta, issued the threat on Thursday while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria.
Ijetta said 58 political appointees obtained asset declaration forms but only 23 of them had filled and returned the forms to the CCB.
She, therefore, advised political appointees in the state, who had yet to submit their asset declaration forms to do so before September 30.
“Failure to adhere to this will be tantamount to a breach of the code and I shall be constrained to submit their names to the Code of Conduct Tribunal for prosecution.
“Please note that you have from now till the end of September to comply with this directive.
“For those yet to collect the Assets Declaration Form, you can go to the SSG’s office to collect it from Prof. Obiamaka Egbo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Financial Management or the Code of Conduct Bureau Office, Room 201, Federal Secretariat, Independence Layout, Enugu,” Ijetta said.
According to her, Section 11(i), (a) and (b) of the Third Schedule of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria mandates public officers to immediately after taking office, submit to the Code of Conduct Bureau, a written declaration of all their assets.
They are also expected to declare their assets at the expiration of their appointments.
