Travellers who will ply though Benin Bypass road are likely to spend more hours to get their destination if the road is not attended to by the Federal Ministry of Works under David Umahi as minister.
The road is in its worst state as deep potholes especially at Ahor Axis which makes it difficult for vehicles use the road with ease.
In some places, long vehicles and cars break down inside the potholes, blocking any available space for other road users. While trailers move the mud filled road, cars find it difficult on the road.
The situation is the same at the end of the Bypass towards Asaba. This has necessitated commercial vehicles to through villages before accessing the major road. some villagers have mounted road blocks, collecting tolls of between N100 to N200 to allow vehicles pass through their villages.
A commercial driver who identified himself as Ibrahim said motorists are suffering on this road. “The road is damaging our vehicles and we are spending too much time on the road”.
Another driver of a popular commercial vehicle pleaded with Federal Government to repair the road before Christmas when there will be too much vehicles on the road by those going for Christmas.
