One of Nigeria’s foremost human rights defenders have raised dust over what he described as the exploitative and discriminatory tendencies of the West and the international health community against the people, especially Africans.
Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor has, who is on a business trip to Spain spoke with Jungle-Journalist.Com in a telephone interview, explaining how his whole travel and activities programme has been interrupted since the announcement of the new strain of the covid, Omicron.
He said that travelers are forced to pay heavily for tests, and undergo ridiculous measures due to covid, and have their activities heavily restricted.
Eholor, who is better known as the Ultimate Equals said in his interview “I am not one of those who are oblivious of the existence of covid. I certainly know that there is a disease called coronavirus but the issue is that, do we question if it’s man made, or do we question if there is an ulterior motive to this disease, or do we check to see where its being directed, something to divide the world? We are already seeing signs of modern apartheid, modern slavery. Recently I was reading with dismay a report from Canada, where two people were discovered to have the new strain of covid, and this is very disturbing. Because they were tagging it with Nigeria. Why is it that everything bad is synonymous with Africa, with Nigeria?
“There was also this CNN interview where a renown activist was putting the UK in proper perspective, regarding their discriminatory attitude towards Africans.
“I was supposed to leave Spain today for Nigeria, but unfortunately, they said I have to do a test for another 24 hours before I can board my plane. You go to a restaurant to eat wearing a mask, after paying for your food, you take the mask away and sit with others and eat. So, is the virus a bogeyman? Does it recognize where you stay to infect you? So I think this science has to be questioned and even the rush for the discovery of the vaccine is questionable.
“We have had cancer for so long which killed a lot of people, and we could not find cure for cancer, then suddenly, we are required to have a certificate of vaccination before you can travel, or before you can eat in any restaurant.
“I think this should be looked into because a lot of financial burden has been pushed to us. Today I could not travel and I had to upgrade my ticket. I had to pay 100 euro to do a test, and I am going to pay another 70 or 75 thousand naira for another test in Nigeria. These are very exploitative measures and we have to cry out. Everybody is suffering globally and some people are benefitting to our own detriment”, he stated.
