A national leader of the Labour Party, Chief Dr Patrick Osagie Eholor has congratulated the three Edo Labour Party members who emerged winners in the 2023 National Assembly elections.

Eholor in a goodwill message, hailed the trio for emerging victorious in the elections and the successful inauguration of the 10th Senate.

He described as unprecedented the victories of Senator Neda Imasuen representing Edo South Senatorial District, Hon. Esosa Iyawe representing Oredo constituency and Murphy Omoruyi representing Egor/Ikpoba Okha. The human rights activist in the statement stated that for a party without a strong background or national structure, Labour Party truly took Nigerians by storm.

He also advised them to do Edo State proud by showing competent representation.

Ijaw communities in Edo lament over govt’s neglect

“1. My message to Hon. Esosa Iyawe representing Oredo constituency, Senator Neda Imasuen representing Edo South Senatorial District and Murphy Omoruyi representing Egor/Ikpoba Okha is that they should be focused and be outstanding by being people-oriented and I also want to use this opportunity to congratulate them once more.

2. The people are expecting a lot from them when it comes to grassroot development, so they must live up to expectations.

3. Despite being minority, there is still a lot of work to do as they too can influence the majority if the policy they are bringing forward favours the grassroots, the only difference between them and the majority is number.

4. They should also remain focused and be people-oriented in whatever they are doing so as to set the pace and raise the standard high.

5. Others areas we expect them to perform include:

Fuel subsidy: they should speedily and critically look into this sector as it is telling hard on the people and they should by all means make sure our refineries are working and fuel smuggling out of the country should stop.

Infrastructure as Lawmakers: all lawmakers are expected to give back to the society with the money that is allocated to them, they should not just build infrastructures but quality ones not the ones that they will do a project of less than a million and at the end they’ll cost more than 10 million for the project, after all there will be no one to checkmate them.

Light: they should also ensure that Nigeria can generate enough electricity to go round at a time without rationing the number of megawatts.

All corrupt political leaders should be investigated and if found guilty should face the law. Corruption has greatly crippled this country and it’s high time the lawmakers check this to reduce and if possible wipe out corruption in this country so we can have a better Nigeria.
