Ahead of the 2023 general elections, a frontline support group in Enugu State, Peter Mbah Grassroots Movement (PGM) has described the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Peter Mbah, as an agent of socio-economic transformation who would spur unprecedented economic development in the state if elected in the forthcoming elections.

The pro-PDP vanguard support group stated this on Wednesday in Enugu during the inauguration ceremony of its executive members and coordinators across the 260 political wards and 4,147 INEC designated polling units in the state.

Speaking on the motive behind the movement, the chairman of the group’s Board of Trustees, Engr. Lawrence Ezeh said they were motivated by Dr. Mbah’s leadership prowess and his exploits in the private sector where he had repositioned many businesses, saying the governorship flagbearer will engender the kind of development the state has not witnessed in the past.

Engr. Ezeh, who further said the state needed someone who could think outside the box, drive economic growth, stimulate massive infrastructure and create employment for the teeming young ones, asserted that Mbah possessed the above qualities having set the track record in the private sector.

He also commended Dr. Mbah for his proposed programmes for the people, which include getting Enugu enlisted as an oil producing state and repositioning its economy as contained in his well-thought-out manifesto.

“Your election as candidate of the PDP at a time like this is divine. There’s no better way to showcase your leadership prowess than looking at what you have done in the private sector,” he added.

While extolling Dr. Mbah for availing the group his presence, the BoT Secretary, Dr. Banko Okibe stated that the entire state had already resolved that they would give him all maximum electoral support at the polls.

He said the aim of the group to embark on grassroots mobilisation of voters would be translated into victory on March 11, 2023.

On his part, the Director General of the State PDP Campaign Organisation, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, while appreciating the group for its impressive turnout despite all odds showed the group was well prepared for the task ahead.

He promised that his office will continue to work with them to achieve total victory for the PDP in the state.

Reacting to the colourful outing, Dr. Mbah said members of the group had already taken ownership of the project with their huge population.

According to him, the implication of what the group had done would be the state enjoying massive sustainable economic development, new infrastructure, job creation, peace and security and social welfare.

Dr. Mbah promised that under his robust leadership, Enugu State will become the most attractive state for investment, businesses, tourism, and living, adding that the model of his administration will be to serve the people and leave life-changing legacies behind.

Assuring that he would fight insecurity and poverty through job creation, the governorship hopeful maintained that the youths will be equipped with adequate skills through training and education which could make them self-reliant and employers of labour.

He lauded the PDP for the good governance it had brought to the state in the last 23 years, adding that his government will build on it and ensure everyone is given voice in the state regardless of status and background.
