Frank Nweke Jr, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Enugu State, on Saturday assured the people of Awgu that his government will address the problem of insecurity in the area and across the state with the promise that farmers will safely access their farms.

He said this on a tour of Oye Awgu in response to Chinenye, a trader, who revealed that the attacks on farms at the neighbouring Ufoma had started extending to Awgu.

In a three-hour tour of the Oye Awgu Market led by the House of Assembly candidate for Awgu South Constituency, Hon. Mary Olachi Nwafor, Nweke and his team tackled questions and concerns, while sharing the core message of the All Progressives Grand Alliance that no one would be left behind in the development of Enugu State under his administration.

In addition to ensuring that the herdsmen-farmers crisis gets decisively resolved, he stated that his administration would work with smallholder farmers by providing extension services and ensuring a ready market for their produce. They would also address the lack of basic infrastructure such as roads, water supply, maternity hospitals and schools.

Most repeated of their requests were the need for a Bank and an EEDC payment outlet in the area to ease their business operations. Nweke assured them of the attraction of a Bank to the area within two months in office as Governor and of his commitment to ensure that all services needed for the ease of running their business was made available.

Also present on the tour were the Deputy Governorship candidate, Dr Edith Ugwuanyi, the Senatorial Candidate for Enugu West, Ndubuisi EnechiOnyia, the APGA women leader, Hon. Ngozi Ugwu.
