Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has concluded arrangements to summon all bank managers operating in the state to explain the prevailing shortage of new Naira bills.

During a campaign rally in Tsanyawa Local Council, yesterday, Ganduje lamented the suffering and hardship caused by the new Naira policy.

APC will use Imo governorship victory as launch pad to takeover southeast, says Ganduje

He said the state government and other All Progressives Congress (APC) states were against the Naira policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), which he described as ill-timed.

“The untimely implementation of Naira policy was deliberately done by the CBN governor as fight back for failing to get the APC presidential ticket. He is only doing this to cause confusion in the coming elections for no just reason. He has not been in good mood for long, because he failed to secure the APC ticket,” Ganduje said.

According to him, currency redesign is done across the globe, but not in the way witnessing in our country.

His words: “The timing is wrong. The deadline given is very wrong and deliberate.

“We will summon bank managers very soon to interrogate the shortage of new Naira notes in banks. They should come over and explain to us why our people are still suffering over the Naira policy. I will go to them individually to supervise what is happening and why.”

Ganduje noted that during the COVID-19 crisis, the state government distributed palliatives to citizens across the 44 local councils.

“We have a plan in the pipeline to start distributing palliatives very soon across the 44 local councils, to cushion the effect of the hardship caused by the Naira policy on our people.”

At the palaces of the District Heads of Kunchi and Tsanyawa local councils, he urged community leaders to create awareness within their jurisdiction on the policy.
