The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has ordered the arrest of his Special Adviser on Internal Security for Ezza South Local Government Area, Mr. Godwin Okum, for unlawfully selling his official government vehicle and replacing it with another.
According to reports, Mr. Okum sold his Official Jeep, which was assigned to him as an official vehicle, for ₦39 million and acquired a different, lesser vehicle. Upon discovery, Governor Nwifuru directed that the replacement vehicle be parked at the Ebonyi State Police Command in Abakaliki, where Mr. Okum was held.
Government sources stressed that the official vehicles allocated to aides remain the property of the Ebonyi State Government and must not be sold or tampered with. “This is a clear act of insubordination and disrespect to the Governor,” one official noted.
