Two days to the 2023 general election in Nigeria, the Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ohofia Agba Ward, Ishielu Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi State, Monday Idoko, has been killed by ‘Unknown Gunmen’.
The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday in Ishielu area of the state.
Chika Nwoba, one of the promoters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State confirmed the murder on Thursday afternoon.
“The Chairman of APGA in Ohoffia, Ishielu LGA, Ebonyi State was killed early hours of today in Ishielu by some unknown armed men. May his soul rest in peace,” the PDP chieftain wrote on his known Facebook page.
Narrating how the incident happened, another source said: “The story is very traumatic. It was a family member that alerted me that some unknown armed persons came to their house in the wee hours of the day, broke in and dragged him out before shooting him on the head.
“They wanted to rush him to the hospital but he died in the village. We have been in a mourning mood since.”
Recall that the APGA Governorship candidate in the state, Prof Odoh, has escaped many attacks in the state in the build up to the election.
