Igbo culture advocate and frontline candidate for the throne of Ogbunike, has distanced himself from the planned factionalisation of the Traditional Council of Ndichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike by some aggrieved members who are against the Chief Nwafor Onyezia led administration.

Making his position clear, Ogene Ogbunike in press statement, made available to Jungle-Journalist.Com said:

“I, Ogbuefi Dr. Chuma-Odili Harris Udokamma Ogene Ogbunike consider myself as one of the stakeholders in the ongoing effort to foster peaceful coexistence amongst the people of Ogbunike. I make bold to state that I’m a certified member of the Traditional Council of Ndichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike. That after my coronation and installation as Ichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike in January 11, 2017, I confidently joined the Traditional Council of Ndichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike, and have been actively involved in it’s activities. There has never been a time Ndi Ogbunike were presented with two factional leaders of the Traditional Council of Ndichie/Ogbuefi.

“It is on this note and fueled by the genuine interest that I’m poised to declare, totally reject, distance myself, and completely stand against this maliciously stage-managed planned factionalisation of Ndichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike.

“Consequently, as a prominent member of the Traditional Council of Ndichie/Ogbuefi, today, Thursday, July 25, 2024, I categorically distance myself and say no to any plans aimed at destabilizing the Traditional Council of Ndichie/Ogbuefi, and destroying the relative peace Ogbunike community has been experiencing in the last few years.

“This decision became necessary following a series of consultations and painstaking analysis of the dangerous consequences of factionalisation of Ndichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike and how it will drive us backwards and possibly plunge the community into crisis, and chaos.

“Learning from history and previous examples, factionalisation has never solved any problem but complicated it to another negative level; rather, dialogue and peace have always been the answers.

“As onye Ichie/Ogbuefi, I acknowledge and sympathise with my fellow members of the Council who had unresolved issues that have kept them away from participating in the legitimate affairs of the traditional institution for a long time. I hereby urge them to sheathe swords and get back to the fold. It is imperative to reiterate that any attempt at factionalising Ndichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike under the guise of any peace meeting should be condemned by all well-meaning citizens of Ogbunike.

“We should not fold our arms and watch a few selfish politicians factionalise the Traditional Council of Ndichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike. As a people, there are more civil ways to express our displeasure. Efforts should be made by concerned members to reach out to the President of the Traditional Council of Ndichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike Chief Nwafor Onyezia and resolve all pending issues. I’m in the know that the President is open to genuine peace talks and total reconciliation

“Chief Nwafor Onyezia’s style of leadership is yielding positive results in our community, as is clearly evident to all and sundry.

“In line with the successes achieved by the current leadership of the Traditional Council of Ndichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike, well documented for all to verify, I, once again loudly and clearly disassociate myself from any planned gathering to register the wrong impression that the Traditional Council of Ndichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike is divided into factions. May we continue to explore peaceful and proactive ways to move our darling town forward.”
