Residents of Aba woke up to destruction of the electronic billboard installed by the Abia State government to amplify the aesthetics of the commercial city.

The LED billboards which were installed few days along Aba Owerri Road Aba, displayed the achievements of Gov Ikpeazu and his promise of completing the first ever flyover in Abia, the Osisioma flyover.

Reacting to the destruction of the billboards, the deputy chairman of Bende Local Government, Hon. Promise Uzoma Okoro, described the act as “barbaric and pure display of wickedness.”

“This is barbaric and pure display of wickedness”, Hon. Okoro wrote on his social media account.

According to him, residents of Aba are fast to compare the state to other states and when the state government do something good, the people will be the first destroy it.

He said, “We compare our state Abia to other states but whenever the Government makes a positive improvement, someone whose heart has been sold will be used to destroy it.

“This is condemnable and those behind it should know they are tools being used to drag the state backward.

“You are not doing Ikpeazu if you destroy any Government property and establishment.”

Similarly, Augustine Akomas the Deputy leader of Aba South Legislative Council said this isn’t part of politics, adding that it’s an evil against the development of the state.

“Is this also part of politics? No, far from it, this is evil against development of our dear Abia State.

“I totally condemn this wicked act and asked the person or persons involved to rethink, ” the lawmaker posted on his social media page.

Chinwe Aba-boms opined: “Nigerians should come of this. It isn’t the governors property but built with our money.

“Political campaigns and utterances of politicians should be toned down.

“Those who burnt down the plantain and banana plantation in Rivers State in 2015, hope they are happier now?

“This is highly condemnable.”
