An Indiana lawyer named Mark S. Zuckerberg has filed a lawsuit against Meta Platforms Inc., accusing the company of negligence and breach of contract after repeatedly shutting down his Facebook accounts on the grounds that he was impersonating the billionaire CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.
According to reports made available to Jungle-Journalist.com, the bankruptcy attorney’s personal account was disabled four times, while his business page was suspended five times over the past eight years. He says the actions cost him clients and wasted more than $11,000 spent on Facebook advertising, comparing the ordeal to “paying for a billboard only to have it covered up before anyone sees it.”
The attorney further disclosed that beyond lost business, he endured death threats, harassing messages, and mistaken lawsuits, all because of his name. To document his ordeal, he created a website — iammarkzuckerberg.com.
The lawsuit, filed in Marion Superior Court, Indianapolis, seeks compensation for lost revenue, legal costs, and a formal apology.
Meta has since restored his accounts, admitting the suspensions were errors caused by its automated systems. A spokesperson confirmed the company is reviewing safeguards to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The case has drawn attention to how reliance on algorithms for content and account moderation can cause serious harm, especially when identity verification systems fail.
