The Nigerian Army have announced that its troops have successfully dismantled and destroyed a terrorist camp linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
In a statement posted on its official X account on Saturday, the Army detailed that the operation took place early in the day within the Ezere Forest of Umuawa Aku, Okigwe Local Government Area in Imo State.
The mission extended to the Akawa Nnneato and Lomara communities in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, where the troops captured a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) along with other items.
Acting on credible intelligence about the harassment and intimidation of local residents by the terrorists, the troops swiftly mobilized to address the threat. Upon arrival, they engaged the terrorists in a fierce gunfight, successfully driving them from their camp.
The troops pursued the fleeing terrorists, leading them to abandon a cache of arms, including one GPMG, various rounds of ammunition, two motorcycles, and two communication radios.
