Facts have emerged on why amongst all the 36 States Governors in Nigeria,the Executive Governor of Enugu State His Excellency Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was nominated as the Special Guest of Honour to the National Debate ’22.
In a telephone chat with Jungle-Journalist.Com, Convener of the programme, Monday Diamond Ani said Governor Ugwuanyi is the Special Guest of Honour.
He revealed that after meetings of the Central Organizing Committee drawn from the six geopolitical zones of the country, Governor Ugwuanyi was nominated based on his popularity amongst the Nigerian students.
According to Ani, “we conducted public opinion amongst the Students Union Government presidents of higher institutions in Nigeria, as well as the Debating Students who will represent the various tertiary institutions. It was gathered that Gov Ugwuanyi was seen as a very likeable person based on his antecedents as a supporter of students and youths in his administration.
“This is seen in his numerous scholarship programmes, and his keen interest in education and youth empowerment since the inception of his government.
“Based on these findings, the COC of TND’22 unanimously nominated Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to be the Special Guest of Honour to the event, which comes up later in September.
