Chairman of Ranent Industries Ltd and key investor in the Tansian University project, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka has raised the alarm over the sudden assumption of all key positions of the university by an erstwhile secretary of the school, Rev Fr Edwin Obiorah.
Ezeonwuka, in a statement, told newsmen that the unfolding dark agenda of Fr Obiorah, which he had in the past sounded the alarm, has suddenly reared its ugly head, with Obiorah sacking in quick succession the first school Chancellor after Monsignor Akam’s demise, Cardinal Peter Okpalaeke, then-Senator Victor Umeh. His goal apparently has been achieved, as he now assumes the office of the Chancellor, Chairman of the Board, Secretary and even legal adviser of the institution.
These all-powerful positions would now afford him unprecedented control over the university’s finances, governance, and day-to-day operations.
Chief Ezeonwuka in his alarm, wondered how one man could have so much sinister plans due to his insatiable ambitions over an institution another gentleman established for the good of all humanity.
He continued “Ndi Anambra and all Igbo should know, so they will not be duped. Whatever Rev Fr Obiorah is doing with Tansian University is under investigation because Fr Obiorah has no powers and no right to oust Senator Victor Umeh nor to oust Cardinal Okpalaeke from Tansian University.
Expressing concern over the lack of proper infrastructure for the university’s purported programs, he pointed out the establishment of a nursing school on Ranent Industries’ factory property in Oba, “Ndi Anambra should not allow that evil to continue. Someone called Fr Obiorah should not be allowed to use his cassock and his position to defraud students, providing fake nursing training on Ranent Industries property in Oba, a place made for factory usage. Can a nursing school be established in a place where there is no teaching hospital? Ndi Igbo, okenye adị anọ nụnọ ewu amụọ nogbili. What is happening in Anambra that everybody is keeping silent? I am calling Ndi Anambra now to come out and call one person called Fr Obiorah to order, and those he is planning to dupe in Tansian University should be very careful and know that the foundation of Tansian University was disrupted and destroyed by Obiorah”, he argued.
He also said, “Now, he is programming himself as managing director, BOT Chairman, and proprietor of Tansian University, I know I am the one who established the university with Monsignor John Bosco Akam, and both of us had an agreement. It was I who brought my financial backup and my infrastructure as take off the campus of Tansian University. And when we had a fight, we settled it amicably, because the consent judgement that we used and settled was challenged by this very Obiorah. I won him in the High Court, I won him in the Appeal Court. Ndi Anambra must come out to call out Fr Obiorah to order, he dupes students and collects millions and millions of naira where they have no future.
No conscious parent will allow his child to study nursing in a factory building at Oba, which is my factory.
He is rounding people up to dupe them. For him to have ever withdrawn the peacemakers that have been guiding the university, like Cardinal Okpalaeke and Senator Victor Umeh, chase them away and try to own the university is what all Igbos must come out now to say, enough is enough. I am advising Ndi Igbo not to allow certain abominable things to happen; don’t keep silent. Speak out.
If Igbos and Anambra stakeholders do not speak out and a man who calls himself Obiorah continue to hold them to ransom, there is no way Anambra will be good. I am not bothering the government to intervene; it is a matter of a private company. But a man like Rommy Ezeonwuka, in his magnanimity, brought out his property to get a licence for Tansian University, then he should be appreciated. When we got the licence, there was no Obiorah, nobody knows where he came from. He conspired with one boy, who wanted to serve as a fake Reverend at Tansian University and was sacked by Monsignor Johnbosco. He went and began to forge documents. Everything they have done is forged. All of these are known and under investigation.
What Obiorah is doing is collecting millions from students to fight non-stop cases, instead of settling all these. Now, what happened is that people should be aware that Obiorah has no locus to oust Okpalaeke or oust Umeh from Tansian University. He now put himself as BOT Chairman and managing director. Upon all the advice given to him by NUC, he still believes that money and his cassock will make way for him. He knows that people respect the cassock as holy, but they don’t know that the character behind this one is pure evil”, he warned.
