Nkerefi, a vibrant community in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, is set to make history this Sunday, September 28, as it rolls out the drums for its first-ever Economic Summit—a groundbreaking event that promises to redefine the town’s destiny.
A Bold Step into the Future
The summit, billed to hold at the Community Secondary School, Nkerefi, is an initiative of the Nkerefi Development Union (NDU). It will gather the crème of Nkerefi’s sons and daughters from across the world—alongside top government officials, captains of industry, investors, and thought leaders.
Organisers say the summit will spotlight Nkerefi’s untapped economic potentials, from its lush farmlands suitable for large-scale rice, maize, cassava, and palm production, to emerging opportunities in agro-processing, food industries, and rural industrialisation. With the right partnerships, Nkerefi could soon emerge as the food basket and investment haven of the Southeast.
Keynote and Dignitaries
Delivering the keynote address is the erudite Hon. Justice Cyprian Ajah. Also expected are the Governor of Enugu State, the Chairman of Nkanu East LGA, the National Assembly member for Nkanu East/West, and oil and gas magnate, Dr. Uche Ogah.
Launch of Civic Centre
Another high point of the day will be the official launch of the Nkerefi Ultramodern Civic Center, a landmark project designed as the community’s premier hub for social, cultural, and developmental activities. Described as the “pride of Nkerefi,” the Civic Center will stand as a symbol of unity and progress for generations to come.
A Turning Point
Speaking ahead of the event, the organisers described the summit as “a turning point for Nkerefi, a moment when we take our destiny in our own hands and open our doors to the world.”
For many, Sunday’s gathering is more than just a summit—it is the birth of a new vision. Nkerefi is set to showcase her strength, woo investors, unite her people, and declare to the world: “We are ready for the future.”
