The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that its elective national convention will take place on November 15-16, 2025, in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

The much-anticipated convention is expected to usher in a new National Working Committee (NWC) to steer the party’s affairs for the next four years.

Addressing journalists shortly after the NEC meeting held at the PDP’s national secretariat in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, confirmed the date and venue for the convention.

He noted that the decision was taken after extensive deliberations aimed at ensuring a seamless leadership transition in the party.

Ologunagba also revealed that the NEC approved the formation of a National Convention Committee and a Zoning Committee to ensure transparency and adherence to the party’s internal democratic processes.

In other news, former Senate President and Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Adolphus Wabara, has warned that the stakes are high and that a poor outcome of its upcoming national convention would have serious consequences for the party.

Wabara made this known at the PDP’s 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Thursday in Abuja.

Wabara, who was represented at the event by former Kaduna State Governor, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, stated that the party’s ability to resolve its internal differences and elect credible leaders would be crucial to reclaiming its position as Nigeria’s leading opposition force.
