Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC, and Senatorial candidate for Enugu East Senatorial Zone 2023, Princess Adaku Ogbu Aguocha has tasked women and youths of the South East to support the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Aguocha, while speaking to journalists on Wednesday, stated that despite the economic challenges facing the country, the President has gradually started to take charge of the economy, and turn the country around.
In her speech, she emphasized the importance of patience in the current political climate, even as she stated that just as a deep wound cannot be hastily covered with a bandage but must be carefully cleaned, treated, and dressed for proper healing, the decades of corruption, mismanagement, and neglect cannot be treated with quick fixes. “Like injuries, they require the careful attention of a skilled surgeon—President Tinubu—who understands the depth of the issues and is willing to make the necessary sacrifices for the nation’s proper healing.”
She also hailed the Mr Wale Edun-led Economic Team of the President for its unwavering commitment to steering the country towards prosperity, despite the challenges. She did this by pointing out Nigeria’s GDP growth of 3.19% in Q2 2024, as reported by the National Bureau of Statistics, as evidence of the positive impact of Tinubu’s administration.
She told the journalists “Our nation stands at a critical moment of transformation, one that demands a comprehensive and strategic effort rather than superficial fixes. This process, though painful and gradual, is essential for our nation’s long-term health and vitality. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the ideal leader to guide Nigeria through this necessary “surgery” with his steady hand and visionary leadership.
“My people, remember that the challenges facing us—such as economic disparities, infrastructural decay, and political instability—are deep-rooted and cannot be resolved overnight. I urge my Southeast brothers and sisters especially, and all Nigerians in general to give President Tinubu the time and support needed to implement his ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’. This certainly is not a quick fix but a long-term commitment to restructuring and revitalizing Nigeria, addressing problems at their roots to build a strong and unshakable foundation for the nation”, she argued.
According to her, the President’s Economic Team has made tough but necessary decisions, akin to the bitter chloroquine used to treat malaria, to ensure Nigeria’s long-term recovery.
Lastly, Ogbu-Aguocha addressed the people of the South-East directly, urging them to see this period of economic growth as an opportunity. She highlighted that historically, Ndigbo have thrived when the economy prospers, contributing significantly to the nation’s wealth and progress.
She encouraged them to remain resilient, confident that brighter days are ahead, and assured them that their strength lies in their unwavering commitment to excellence, even in the face of hardship.
