The Arochukwu Kingdom once again made a strong spiritual statement at the 2025 Royal Fathers Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), held at the Redemption Camp, Lagos.
Although His Eminence, Eze Aro, Dr Eberechukwu Kanu Oji, was away on a visit to the United States, the kingdom was ably represented by His Royal Highness, Eze Amos Ugwuegbo Okoro, the Eze Ibom Isii of Arochukwu, who led a powerful delegation of traditional rulers and palace officials to the event.
The Royal Fathers Convention, now in its third edition and themed “More Than Conquerors,” is an annual gathering initiated by the General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye. It brings together monarchs and royal fathers from across Nigeria to pray for their kingdoms, seek divine guidance, and rededicate their thrones to God’s service.
Aro Delegation in Worship
This year’s convention drew royal fathers from all parts of the country, but the delegation from Arochukwu Kingdom stood out for its unity and representation. Traditional rulers from the five Aro clans—Arochukwu, Abam, Ututu, Ihechiowa, and Isu—were all represented.
Leading the team was HRH Eze Amos Ugwuegbo Okoro, the Eze Ibom Isii of Arochukwu, accompanied by Eze Obioha Chukwu, the Ezeogo of Amankwu Arochukwu; and Elder Moses Onwuka, representing Utughugwu.
Also present were the Chief of Staff to His Eminence, Mazi Kanu Okoro; Arianzu Obinkita, Mazi Solomon Orji Akweke; Arianzu Isimkpu, Mazi Okezie; Arianzu Utughugwu, Mazi Ojukwu and his wife; Mazi Sunny Iromantu; Mazi Obinna Ojukwu; and HRH Eze Origa of Abam Enyurubi. The team was supported by Captain Okey Imuoh, who anchored the event and represented the Palace Media Radio.
In total, about 18 traditional rulers and senior palace officers from Arochukwu Local Government Area participated in the convention—one of the largest contingents from any single community in the South East.

Worship, Humility, and Leadership
The highlight of the convention was the sight of royal fathers—men traditionally revered as divine symbols of authority—kneeling in worship before God. The Aro delegation joined in the deep, emotional praise sessions, praying for peace, progress, and divine favour for their people and homeland.
According to Pastor Adeboye, the program reflects God’s intention to restore righteousness and humility to leadership across Nigeria’s traditional institutions. “When kings bow before the King of Kings, their kingdoms are blessed,” he said.

The Eze Aro’s Guiding Spirit
Though physically absent, the presence of Eze Aro, Dr Eberechukwu Kanu Oji, was felt throughout the event. As both a monarch and a pastor within the RCCG, he has been instrumental in fostering faith-based leadership among traditional rulers. Since his coronation as the 9th Eze Aro of Arochukwu, he has been praised for promoting unity, infrastructure renewal, and moral transformation across the ancient kingdom.
His leadership has also restored dignity and visibility to Arochukwu, both within the South East and in national circles. Under his reign, the kingdom has witnessed significant community development and renewed pride in its cultural heritage.
The Eze Aro’s spiritual example continues to inspire other royal fathers to combine divine wisdom with traditional authority in service to their people.
As one palace aide put it, “Our king has shown that true royalty begins at the feet of God. This is why Arochukwu is moving forward.”

A New Model of Traditional Leadership
The Royal Fathers Convention continues to build a bridge between spirituality and governance, creating a platform for monarchs to pray, network, and renew their moral vision for their communities. With Arochukwu’s royal fathers playing a prominent role once again, the kingdom has reaffirmed its place among Nigeria’s most spiritually progressive traditional domains.
