The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has welcomed a new batch of 195 freshly trained Police Constables deployed to the State Command, charging them to uphold professionalism, integrity, and discipline in the discharge of their duties.

Jungle-Journalist.Com reports that the newly recruited officers, comprising 124 males and 71 females, were received at the State Police Headquarters, GRA, Enugu, after completing a rigorous six-month training programme at the Police College, Oji-River.

Speaking during the formal reception, CP Giwa congratulated the recruits on their successful graduation and deployment, reminding them that joining the Force was not a licence for oppression or exploitation but a call to serve the nation with honour and humanity.

He warned sternly against any form of extortion, corruption, or abuse of the Police uniform, insisting that the Command under his leadership would deal decisively with any officer who brings disrepute to the Force.

“This uniform is a badge of service, not a tool of intimidation,” Giwa declared. “Any officer found misusing it to enrich themselves unlawfully will face the full weight of disciplinary action.”

The Commissioner further disclosed that the new Constables would undergo an intensive post-College tactical and operational training, aimed at sharpening their crime-fighting, intelligence, and field response skills before their deployment across the State.

According to him, the additional training is designed to boost operational readiness and reinforce the Command’s resolve to maintain peace and security across Enugu State.

It will be recalled that the 195 recruits form part of a total of 379 newly graduated Police Constables drawn from the South-East states — Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo — who successfully passed out on October 7, 2025, under the supervision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM.

Meanwhile, the Enugu Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a new generation of officers that are citizen-focused, accountable, and corruption-free, in line with the broader national policing reforms.
