MASSOB Blasts Ngozi Orabueze, Diaspora Agitators Over Fresh Attempt to Disrupt Anambra Election

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has condemned what it described as renewed attempts by some diaspora-based agitators, led by Ngozi Orabueze, to incite political instability in Igboland ahead of the November 8, 2025 Anambra Governorship Election.

In a strongly worded statement signed by Comrade Uchenna Madu, leader of MASSOB, the group warned that certain “disgruntled and sponsored individuals” living abroad were exploiting the Biafra cause to create confusion and fear in the Southeast, under the guise of self-determination activism.

Orabueze, who recently declared herself “leader” of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE) after the arrest and conviction of Simon Ekpa in Finland, has been urging Igbos to contribute huge sums to fund what she calls “Biafra liberation.” She has also circulated videos declaring that there will be no election in Anambra State and ordering residents to observe a sit-at-home on election day.

MASSOB, however, said the group will not allow such deceit and manipulation to succeed.

“Several times during elections in the South East, they came up with this sympathetic deceit of sit-at-home during election days, claiming such futile exercises enhance Biafra actualization,” Madu said. “MASSOB always countered and stopped them. This time, they will fail.”

The pro-Biafra organization further warned anti–pro-Biafra activists “hiding in the diaspora” to stay clear of Biafra land, insisting that MASSOB would not fold its arms and allow confusion to reign.

Madu assured residents of Anambra State that the governorship election will hold as scheduled, noting that MASSOB had already begun underground mobilization and sensitization across the state.

“MASSOB members and other pro-Biafra groups are coming out to participate in the election with our massive support for the competent and credible candidate that is full of Igbo blood,” he added.

The group also encouraged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to proceed with the election “without distraction,” stressing that credible polls are essential to stability and progress in Igboland.

“Having studied the political, economic, religious and social implications of not having a credible election in Anambra State, and the chaos that may erupt, we insist that the Anambra governorship election must be peaceful and credible,” Madu stated.

MASSOB emphasized that its position does not mean abandoning the Biafra struggle but prioritizing the overall interest of Ndigbo over personal ambition.

“We can never allow outsiders to dictate our political and economic future,” Madu said. “We must always consider the collective interest of our people first.”

The latest statement from MASSOB follows a similar warning issued recently by the Igbo Community in America, which denounced Ngozi Orabueze’s fundraising and sit-at-home directives, describing them as fraudulent and destructive to Igbo progress.

With less than a month to the Anambra election, MASSOB’s statement signals growing rejection among pro-Biafra groups toward diaspora-based agitators accused of promoting violence from abroad while ordinary citizens bear the consequences at home.
