…threatens reprisal attacks over Eha-Amufu killings

As Christians all over the world mark the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, the governorship candidate of Labour Party in Enugu State, Chief Chijioke Edeoga has congratulated the people of the state while accusing the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi of running a selfish campaign in the country.

In the Christmas goodwill message signed by Engr George Ugwu, spokesman of the Chijioke Edeoga Campaign Organization and made available to newsmen, Chief Edeoga said that despite the turbulence and challenges over the past one year in the nation, the birth of Christ will continue to be a respite to those who believed in Christ’s messianic birth.

Chief Edeoga, who described himself as the new hope of Enugu State,, further accused Peter Obi as selfish and self-centered in his electioneering campaign activities which excluded members of his team from the national Labour Party’s structure.

Lamenting that Mr. Obi had been ignoring him and had refused to identify with his governorship aspiration in the state, especially at public functions, the former federal lawmaker wondered whom Obi would work with in the various states if he won in 2023 without carrying other states along, since he had been parading himself as a saint while seeing others as sinners.

Stressing that the birth of Christ calls for forgiveness, peace and unity, Chief Edeoga advised Obi to turn a new leaf, eschew his holier-than-thou attitude and reciprocate their tireless rooting for his candidature by carrying him and others along in the campaign train.

“Nobody is a saint. That’s why Jesus Christ came to save sinners. We have been working for him, and we must work as a team to win the forthcoming general elections in the federation. I contributed immensely in making him popular in Enugu State.

“This morning, I personally sent text messages to many stakeholders in the state calling for support for our party. I specifically appealed to them to vote for His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi and others. We must stop playing politics of discrimination, segregation and social ostracisation for the interest of our party. The attitude of our presidential candidate is not helping anyone,” Chief Edeoga noted.

He called for peace to return in Eha-Amufu in the spirit of Christmas, warning that the Fulani herdsmen do not have monopoly of violence in the state.

Chief Edeoga who threatened reprisal attack if the herdsmen continued with the attacks, maintained that his people were ready to fight back.

“If they refuse to desist from slaughtering our people, we will kill them back as deterrence. No ethnic group has a monopoly of violence in Nigeria. Miyetti Allah should call its members to order immediately. Eha-Amufu people will no longer tolerate the attacks on them,” he added.
